Billie Holiday provides a lot of admiration for her delivery still a narrow range but Dinah Washington had a voice so sensual.

Dinah Washington was a great singer with perfect pitch, but Billie Holiday was incomparable.

JOOLS Holland is excitable by nature, but when he spots a new artist who has what he considers “it,” his enthusiasm goes off the scale. To go by his reaction to Imelda May, she has “it” in spades.
“I’ve got to have you on the show,” he told her after seeing her play live – and so, a couple of months ago, she duly found herself on “Later With Jools Holland,” wowing an audience who included Jeff Beck, Elbow and Roots Manuva. Beck, in fact, made a point of telling Holland that he was only there to see Imelda.
Imelda hails from Dublin and her material is described as an infectiously unique fusion of rockabilly, blues and jazz. Her recent singles, Johnny Got A Boom-Boom and Big Bad Handsome Man have been hits of Radio 2’s playlist this year.
Her musical heroines range from Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington to the undisputed queen of rockabilly, Wanda Jackson, but this highly rated artist has worked hard to create a contemporary sound all of her own.
